How Your Confidence is Revealed in Your Handwriting

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

Broad shoulders, uptight posture, chin up, shoulders back. These are all body language traits of the very confident. Handwriting, too, is a lot like reading body language. Here are some general factors that can determine confidence in your handwriting.

1. The letter ‘t’-

The lowercase ‘t’ reveals a lot about the writer’s self-esteem. A high t-bar means 'I’ve got some goals, and I know I can accomplish my goals,’ type of thinking. Hence, the higher the cross is placed in the stem, the greater the confidence of the writer. Likewise, a t-bar placed lower on the stem indicates a comparatively lower self-esteem. Such people tend to be very critical of themselves. They aim very low, because they believe they can not achieve their goals. The good news is that you can change your personality by just changing your handwriting. So adjusting your ‘t’ bars to a bit higher than the middle zone letters (such as a, o, etc.) can give you a confidence boost.

2. Size of handwriting-

A large handwriting is also one of the indicators of very healthy self-esteem. On the other hand, very small handwriting often points to the opposite. While small writing typically represents intense focus, extremely tiny writing is an indication of self-esteem issues and excessive shyness.

3. Size of capitals-

A good level of confidence is revealed when the size of capital letters is at least twice the size of the lower case letters. However, very large capital letters show an unhealthy ego, making the person more arrogant or prone to narcissistic tendencies.

4. Personal pronoun ‘I’-

Ideally, the personal pronoun ‘I’ should be twice the size of the lowercase letters. When it is small, it indicates a poor self-perception of the writer.

The lowercase personal pronoun ‘i’, as shown in the image below, reveals insecurity and extremely low self-esteem.

Small signature-

When the signature is smaller than the actual writing, it implies the person is not really confident in public (your writing shows your real personality, while the signature reveals how you show yourself to the world ). Likewise, a signature that is much larger than the actual writing suggests an exaggerated sense of self and an inflated ego.
