The Amazing Science Behind Hamd

وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

So be patient with your Lord’s decree, for you are truly under Our ˹watchful˺ Eyes. And glorify the praises of your Lord when you rise. 48/52

Have you ever considered why Allah in the Quran has encouraged us to praise him and glorify Him, and why he often gives examples of angels praising him? When I was younger, I could not understand this. I thought if Allah is free of all need and praise, why does He encourage us to praise Him?

However, its now that I'm starting to understand that Allah does not need to hear praise, but rather we're in need of praising him.

This is deeply rooted in science. Our brains have something called neuroplasticity – the concept that our brains can be ‘rewired’. If you tell yourself something often enough, you will create new neural pathways.

For an instance, if a person starts counting his blessings everyday, his brain will be rewired to be more grateful and happier. He will be more cheerful, optimistic, and calm

On the flip side, if someone thinks to himself, I will never succeed and will fail, his brain will be actually rewired to fail and will create this reality for him.

This is because our minds learn by repetition.

So if a person repeatedly does hamd of Allah, whilst understanding it, his brain will be rewired to be more spiritual, calmer, happier and will develop a stronger bond with Him.

Subhanallah!

Now I more deeply understand when Allah says I am free of need, but it's you that actually needs me!
